Following up on the
ongoing story. ... Now that his brother Eli Manning has returned home, family members and friends scattered and the Super Bowl circus has left town, Manning can totally focus on his rehabilitation from Sept. 8 neck surgery. There also is a meeting with owner Jim Irsay to begin discussions on Peyton’s future with the Colts. Irsay called Peyton today to offer congratulations on Eli’s Manning's latest accomplishment. “I told him I would pass that along,’’ Peyton said. “We talked about getting together and I think it will be this week. He just said, ‘I look forward to sitting down with you soon.’ I told him the same thing."

So when will the meeting take place? “One thing he and I are not going to do is give a set date, where it’s like a game," Manning explained. " We’ll handle it the way it should be handled and go from there. ..." We'll see about that. Both sides have fallen short after making similar claims at various times over the last two weeks. It also remains to be seen whether the meeting will actually yield a decision. Whatever the case, it's safe to say we'll follow up as needed.
