The Facts:
Ballard and Travis Beckum both suffered serious knee injuries in the team’s 21-17 Super Bowl XLVI victory over the New England Patriots. Ballard tore his meniscus cartilage while Beckum
tore his right anterior cruciate ligament. Neither returned to the game, leaving Bear Pascoe as the last man standing. Ballard is unsure if he’ll need surgery. Beckum definitely will.

6Ballard felt like he made the injury worse by testing it on the sideline — even though he realized the same thing would’ve happened in the game. We'll follow up on his injury as needed. Beckum was jammed at the line of scrimmage and seemed to land oddly on his right leg. He went down immediately and needed help getting off the field. In addition to knocking Beckum out of the biggest game of his life, a torn ACL in February will greatly affect his 2012 season. It seems unlikely he’ll be ready for Week 1, which means he would begin the year on the physically-unable-to-perform list.
