Irsay: No One Knows What Will Happen With Peyton Manning
(2/1 9:12 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... Colts owner Jim Irsay appeared Wednesday on NFL Network with Rich Eisen to discuss how Super Bowl week is going in Indianapolis. Yeah, another topic came up too. “A lot of people think Peyton [Manning] and I know what’s going to happen,” Irsay said. “No one knows exactly what’s going to happen.” Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Irsay stressed that he’d like to wait until the “last possible minute” to make a final decision on Manning’s future. He said that he would continue to talk to Manning into early March and possibly beyond. (That contradicts a report Manning could be released by the Scouting Combine.) Essentially, Irsay wants to wait to see if Manning’s neck will make a sudden recovery. But as PFT's Gregg Rosenthal notes, if that doesn’t happen by early March (when Manning's $28 million bonus is due), then everyone will know what’s going to happen to Manning. ... If they already don't. Bruce Arians first joined the Colts in 1998 as QBs coach tasked with helping the team work its way off a 3-13 record and to build a future. Now that's he's back as OC, Arians told the team's official web site today, “It’s like déjà vu like in 1998, starting off with a new general manager, a new head coach and a new quarterback. ... It was so exciting to watch that process grow into what it has become. Now, to come back with a new GM and a new head coach, hopefully we have [Manning] back, I have my fingers crossed but possibly starting with another young one, it’s really exciting. ..." Could Arians know something Irsay doesn't? Seems unlikely. ... Whatever the case, there will be more. Lots more. Stay tuned.
