While Kaepernick is no threat to Smith as a starter this year, it's probably fair to say that the quarterback position will be re-evaluated in the offseason. Smith has kept his mistakes to a minimum, but he's not capable of making big plays either which could make Kaepernick, or someone else, an option in 2012.
