The Facts:
Woodhead suffered a sprained ankle in Sunday’s game against the Raiders, hopping off the field on one leg after his second carry. Woodhead was not seen afterward, and details have been minimal. But Herald staffer Ian Rapoport has learned that Woodhead escaped major damage on his ankle, and there is no broken bone or torn ligament. It is a sprain. It’s just not clear how bad it is or whether he’ll miss Sunday’s game against the Jets.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
According to Rapoport, the plan is for the Patriots to see how it responds to treatment and see how much better it gets. That’s one reason why it has been so hard to pin down a timetable. It all depends on how the ankle reacts over the next few days. From the sounds of it, it’s a week-to-week thing, not a month-to-month thing. And for such a dynamic offensive player, that’s good news. But so much of what happens over the course of the week will determine how much Woodhead plays — or even practices. Stay tuned.
