Rivera Won't Rule Out Steve Smith's Return
(6/7 9:4 PT)

The Facts:
HC Ron Rivera said "it's not a foregone conclusion" the Panthers will move Smith, who is signed through the 2012 season. Reported by the Charlotte Observer

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
But Rivera is not sure what to think of Smith's situation. Coming off the least productive season of his 10-year career, the star wideout has indicated he might be ready to move on. When asked about his uncertain future on Monday, Smith said "I choose to keep my opinion to myself and we'll continue to take that road. ..." Rivera said their conversation prior to the lockout left him uncertain about Smith's intentions. "We had a great conversation. He was honest. He was forthright," Rivera said. "He did kind of leave me at a point where I was wondering exactly where does he want to go with this? I will wait until we sit down and talk when the time comes. ..." For what it's worth, Smith describes Rivera as "a great guy." Smith calls the decision to draft QB Cam Newton No. 1 overall "outstanding." He also said he hasn't attended workouts organized by his teammates because his wife's health has kept him at home. ... We'll advise Fantasy Football owners not to hold their breath waiting for Smith's return to Carolina. Indeed, this seems like a case where just about any team mentioned in connection with Smith -- including Oakland, San Diego and Baltimore -- would be better situations for the veteran wideout.
