The Facts:
HC Brad Childress said Rice (hip surgery) made the call on Saturday that he wasn't ready for action. "We went through (Saturday) morning to see how he came back from Friday's practice," Childress said. "I'm not going to say we went to the 3 o'clock deadline but we had our mock game yesterday morning and just talked to him. He didn't feel like he was able to go yet."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Rice declined comment but his decision to hold off on his return -- with both Percy Harvin and Bernard Berrian heading into today's game listed as questionable -- adds to the notion he's more worried about a new contract than the rest of the season. Indeed, as 1500ESPN.com's Tom Pelissero reported earlier this week, with half his season already gone, Rice knows that playing poorly or suffering a setback could harm his value on the open market. "It's huge," Rice said, referring to his future. "Definitely, I want no setbacks, but I also want to help this team as much as I can." But he didn't want to help this week. We'll see if that changes going forwards.
