According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, with Alex Smith out 2-4 weeks, Troy Smith will start against the Broncos in London this weekend.

Alex Smith suffered a sprained left shoulder in last week's game, giving way to David Carr, who did nothing to earn the confidence of coaches working in relief. HC Mike Singletary suggested he'd consider all options if Alex Smith couldn't play this week; he obviously did just that by going with Troy Smith as the starter, even though the former Raven didn't join the team until Sept. 6.
