HC Ken Whisenhunt said he will start Derek on Saturday night when the team visits the Chicago Bears for its third preseason game.

Anderson was told Thursday morning that he would work with the first-team offense. Whisenhunt said Anderson will play in the first quarter and that Matt Leinart will enter the game. Asked what he's looking for with the change, Whisenhunt said, "First downs. ..." Of course, the coach is clearly looking for more -- as in a new starter. As ESPN's Mike Sando put it: "Whisenhunt would not demote his starting QB in third week of preseason if he thought that QB had earned the respect of the locker room." ESPN's Chris Mortensen also chimed in by reporting a Cardinals insider told him that it's "not even close" between Anderson and Leinart. So even though it's not official, Mortensen advised his Twitter followers to "bet on Anderson starting the year." We'll also note that speculation about Leinart's future with the Cardinals has already begun. ... Stay tuned. We'll be hearing more about this one. Bet on it.
