The Facts:
Freeman fractured the tip of the thumb on his throwing hand during the first quarter of Saturday night’s preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Buccaneers say he will be sidelined until at least the opening week of the regular season.

The Bucs announced that Freeman is expected return to practice by the opening week of the regular season and play in the Sept. 12 opener against Cleveland. We'll assume that's the case for now -- but we'll be watching for more. Meanwhile, No. 2 man Josh Johnson will get some much-needed work over the next two pre-season games.
