According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Jets are now exploring the possibility of signing Owens. The Jets have contacted Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus and have debated the idea of bringing the high-profile wide receiver to training camp. Still a deal between the Jets and T.O. seems unlikely; one league source put the chances at 20 percent.

ESPN.com's Tim Graham has subsequently called the chances of New York signing T.O. as "minimal." This is the same kind of scenario as when the Jets called JaMarcus Russell but never signed him. The Bengals are still the favorites to sign Owens. They have an incentive-laden contract on the table and have told Owens he has untill Wednesday to agree to a deal. ... Stay tuned.
