Obviously, the Jets didn't trade two draft picks and two players for Edwards during the 2009 season just to see him walk away as a free agent five months later. According to PFT's Michael David Smith, the first- and third-round tender ensures that Edwards won't walk away, as no team is going to give the Jets first- and third-round picks for Edwards. The tender will cost the Jets 110 percent of Edwards' 2009 base salary of $4.55 million, or slightly over $5 million.
