As the momentum builds toward Pete Carroll becoming the next coach of the Seahawks, a source with knowledge of the situation tells us that the team quietly traveled to Los Angeles this week to interview Carroll for the job. Officially, the Seahawks were in L.A. to interview a G.M. candidate. In reality, they met secretly with Carroll.

According to PFT's Mike Florio, it appears a deal is close to being completed. The firing of Jim Mora (see more
here) adds further fuel to the notion that Carroll's deal is all but done. ... Florio went on to note the Seahawks decided at some point to go "big-game hunting," and that fallback candidates include Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden and John Fox. But for now, all signs point toward Carroll getting the job.
