The Detroit Lions announced today that Stanton will start at quarterback Sunday at San Francisco, getting the nod over Daunte Culpepper.

Matthew Stafford (shoulder) did not participate in the portion of practice open to reporters today and won't play. Culpepper, who had taken over from Stafford, was benched at halftime of Sunday’s 31-24 loss to Arizona. Stanton wasn't all that impressive, but the Lions at least put some points on the board after he replaced Culpepper.
