After drafting West Virginia QB Pat White this weekend, the Dolphins cut ties today with former second-round pick Beck, the team announced.

Beck had been eclipsed on the depth chart last season by Chad Henne after failing to impress in two NFL seasons despite a strong college career at Brigham Young. Chad Pennington will continue to run as the starter, presumably for one more season, before Henne -- or perhaps White (who will be allowed to compete for the No. 2 spot this summer) -- takes over.
