Vikings fans wearing the latest line of tin foil Helga horns can relax: Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, one of nine finalists for the "honor," won't be on the cover. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Peterson rejected an offer to appear on the cover several weeks ago.

The reference here, of course, is to the Madden cover "curse" -- several players who have appeared on the cover, including Michael Vick, Shaun Alexander and Donovan McNabb, suffered injuries the following season. And those are just recent examples. ... Meanwhile, previous reports suggesting Larry Fitzgerald had already been picked for the cover were apparently mistaken. Instead, Fitzgerald is a finalist.
