Tomlinson told reporters in Texas today that he remains hopeful of remaining a Charger. “I am optimistic [a restructure] will happen,” Tomlinson said. “But again, I’m realistic about certain things, and I understand, it is a business. Sometimes business decisions are made that are out of our control. But my heart wants to stay in San Diego.”

So why hasn't he agreed to a new deal that would keep him with the team? According to Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio, Tomlinson is reluctant to reduce his $6.725 million base salary for 2009. The Chargers obviously want him to take a pay cut. Negotiations are ongoing. ... Stay tuned.
