RB Anthony Alridge was among five players the Broncos released on Wednesday. The Broncos also released RBs Alex Haynes and P.J. Pope, TE Chad Mustard and WR Cliff Russell.

Tatum Bell ended the season as the Broncos' starting RB because seven tailbacks were on IR. It's anyone's guess who will begin 2009 as the starter, especially since there is a new coaching staff. But the release of Alridge, Haynes and Pope will help Fantasy owners gain better clarity on the situation once mini-camps begin. Ryan Torain and Patrick Hillis still look the most capable of handling serious workloads going forward, but new HC Josh McDaniels comes from a team, the Patriots, that have made effective use of RBBCs in recent seasons.
