Williams suffered a torn patellar tendon in his left knee in Sunday’s 31-24 loss to the Oakland Raiders, but the injury is not as severe as last year’s right knee injury that sidelined him 14 months. “It’s more of a tear off the bone, so the rehab process should be much easier,” Williams confirmed on Monday.

The injury comes 15 months after Williams tore the patellar tendon in his right knee on September 30, 2007. He did not return to action until November 23 this season. “All indications are he has a chance to be ready for training camp,” HC Jon Gruden said Monday. “It’s a long road to recovery.” But Williams certainly knows how to travel that road; the experience will help.
