Roethlisberger was taken from the field on a stretcher in the second quarter of today's game against the Browns. Byrohn Leftwich will take over at quarterback.

Roethlisberger took big shots on two plays -- with his head bouncing hard off the ground on the second one. While he was conscious and appeared to have full movement of his extremities (he was clearly talking to the trainers attending him) every precaution was being taken. The facemask was removed from Roethlisberger's helmet and he was placed on a backboard before going on the stretcher. It took nearly 15 minutes to get him off the field -- but Big Ben flashed a big thumbs up as the stretcher went into the tunnel. ... Stay tuned. The Steelers have a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
