Michael Smith of ESPN reports that 49ers HC Mike Nolan likely will be fired next week, and that Mike Singletary will replace him.

Smith's report says the move will be made "barring unforeseen changes. ..." Singletary previously has been interviewed for multiple head-coaching jobs, although PFT's Mike Florio suggests the school of thought in some circles has been that Singletary isn’t ready to be a head coach. Whatever the case, this is a situation worth watching.
