After playing most of the first half with what he called a bruised left shoulder -- suffered on a reception on the Lions' third offensive play of the game -- Smith watched the second half of Sunday's game without pads on the sideline. "I went out there to test it after halftime," Smith said. "But I just didn't have the strength that I felt I needed to protect the ball and protect the quarterback, all of that."
