A league source tells us that the Detroit Lions cut Bell in order to make room for veteran running back Rudi Johnson.

As PFT's Mike Florio suggests, it's possible that the Texans will sniff around Bell. HC Gary Kubiak worked with Bell when the two were in Denver. Florio believes the Texans were very interested in Johnson, who inked with the Lions before getting a chance to check out Houston. Bell was traded to the Lions in 2007 as part of the deal that sent cornerback Dre’ Bly to Denver.
