The Facts:
The Raiders notified Rhodes that he is being released. The salary cap was behind Rhodes' release. When the Raiders traded CB Fabian Washington to Baltimore Sunday, it put them over the salary cap. Rhodes had a $1.75 million salary, enough to put the Raiders back under the cap once he was released.

While the decision to release a running back comes as no surprise after Darren McFadden was selected with the fourth pick overall Saturday, we expected LaMont Jordan to get the apple and road map, not Rhodes. McFadden, incumbent starter Justin Fargas, Michael Bush and Jordan currently remain on the roster.
