The Facts:
According to ESPN insider Chris Mortensen, Raiders owner Al Davis drafted a letter of resignation, sent it to HC Lane Kiffin and has asked Kiffin to sign it. Kiffin, who obviously hasn't signed the letter, told Mortensen today that he wouldn't discuss the issue. The letter was reportedly sent two weeks ago.

Mortensen further noted it's not clear if the letter will actually result in Kiffin's departure -- the coach is said to be daring the owner to fire him (which would force Davis to pay Kiffin for the two years remaining on his contract), but the two men have clearly had disagreements over assistant coaches -- most recently defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who remained in Oakland despite Kiffin's desire to make a change. .... One last note: Mortensen suggests that Dennis Green would be among those Davis might talk to if Kiffin ultimately does resign. Stay tuned.
