ESPN's John Clayton, reporting live from Indianapolis, just advised SportsCenter viewers that Gates made it through warmups and -- barring a setback on the walk back to the locker room -- will play against the Colts today.

A major surprise considering Gates, who dislocated his toe last Sunday, was unable to practice all week and was officially listed as doubtful. The big question now is how much the star tight end might actually contribute. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, there is talk Gates damaged tendons in his foot in addition to the dislocated toe, which will require off-season surgery. ... We'd advise against getting too excited about the possibility of Gates posting monster totals.
