The Facts:
HC Tom Coughlin wasn't ready to declare him done for the year just yet, but one day after seeing Derrick Ward suffer a broken left fibula, the coach admitted "that's the way it appears." The good news, if there is any, is that he probably doesn't need surgery. But with only four games left in the regular season, there just isn't enough time for him to get back.

On the bright side, Coughlin said the plan is for Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) to return this week. He said that was always the plan, that they're not just rushing him back because Ward is out. "If Jacobs can come back and play and play through the end of the season without further injury, then I think we're in good shape," Coughlin said. "I think we'll be OK if Jacobs can stay on the field."
