Packers Want To Lighten Eddie Lacy's Workload... But Will They Follow Through?
(6/25 2:3 PT)

The Facts:
What was a crowded backfield for the Green Bay Packers suddenly is a lot less cluttered, and the organization’s plan for the position is a lot more clear. Lacy said he’s ready for another 250 or 300 carries if that’s what the offense calls for, but the coaching staff would like to lessen the burden for the between-the-tackles back, who ran the final month of the season on a badly sprained ankle. Reported by the Green Bay Press-Gazette

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
With Johnathan Franklin's career coming to an early end last Thursday, the team's decision to re-sign veteran James Starks to a two-year contract this offseason makes more sense. With the team looking to at least somewhat lighten the load on Lacy, who absorbed 61.9 percent of the team’s carries last season, Starks and DuJuan Harris, the second-year scatback who missed all of last season with a patellar tendon injury, will be standing by. It makes sense to spread things out a bit, but fantasy football owners shouldn't panic. Lacy will be plenty busy -- even if he doesn't match last year's 284 carries.
