Dwayne Bowe In Great Shape, Showing Chemistry With Smith
(6/15 12:21 PT)

The Facts:
According to the Kansas City Star, Alex Smith and Bowe have been firing on all cylinders during OTAs. Smith even dispensed with his usual low-risk approach, hitting Bowe on several shots downfield. HC Andy Reid is encouraged with the offseason results of his top pairing. "I think Dwayne came back in phenomenal shape, that's one thing, Reid said. "It looks like it out here. He's really moving around well." Reported by NFL.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As NFL.com notes, Bowe is being paid like a top-five receiver, but he didn't play like one in 2013. In spite of Bowe's paltry numbers last season (57 catches, 673 yards, 5 touchdowns), the Chiefs surprised everyone by earning a playoff berth in their first season under Reid's guidance. But if the Chiefs want to repeat -- and if Bowe wants to maintain his hefty contract status -- he'll have to play like a true No. 1 receiver for Smith in 2014. Bowe believes improved chemistry with the man under center will help him bounce back. "We're doing well right now," Bowe said. "We only can get better with time and that's what OTAs are for, to come down with the timing and just be consistent. ... Last year everyone was getting a feel for it. Now (Alex Smith is) like a brother-in-law. He's doing great, and that's all you can ask for." Well, fantasy football owners could ask for production commensurate with his salary. But that's probably something the Chiefs want as well.
