The best news from this session was the return of Broyles, who practiced for the first time since rupturing his Achilles tendon while fielding a punt Oct. 27 against Dallas.

Broyles was cleared to rejoin the team for voluntary conditioning the past two weeks, but did not have a helmet for Day 1 of minicamp. But MLive.com's Kyle Meinke reports that Broyles was back in action Wednesday, including shagging a few passes during the brief media availability. ... The Lions have said they aren't sure yet whether Broyles will return to the form that made him the NCAA's all-time leading pass-catcher at Oklahoma and the Lions' second-round pick in 2012. They've planned accordingly, signing Golden Tate to start alongside Calvin Johnson, and now are considering drafting a starting receiver in the first round of next month's draft. But Broyles isn't out of the fold just yet.
