Torrey Smith Hoping Ravens Get Him Some Help
(2/26 2:6 PT)

The Facts:
The Ravens are set on adding another wide receiver to the roster. GM Ozzie Newsome said he knows the type of receiver he wants, and he’s confident that he’ll be on the roster for training camp. Smith is excited about the idea of adding another pass catcher to the mix, and identified a “move-the-chains guy” as the type of receiver the Ravens are missing. “That’s probably someone that we need on a consistent basis,” Smith said. “Another weapon like that is just another person that Joe [Flacco] can rely on.” Reported by BaltimoreRavens.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
A new receiver could come from the draft or free agency, as Newsome said the Ravens will look at “every avenue” to bring in new talent this offseason. The Ravens have also done their diligence in scouting a talented draft class of receivers, reportedly meeting with several of this year’s top targets at the NFL Scouting Combine. The Ravens have some uncertainty with their receiving corps, as tight ends Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson, and wideout Jacoby Jones are all unrestricted free agents. The Ravens have been in talks with Pitta, but have yet to work out a long-term extension. Behind Smith, five of the team's seven leading pass-catchers were running backs or tight ends. Rookie Marlon Brown showed promise, but he and Jacoby Jones combined for just 86 catches at 11.4 yards per reception. It's definitely a position of need -- and with the right guy in place, Smith's life would be easier.
