The Latest: Michael Vick Takes First-Team Reps; Won't Say He'll Start
(10/22 2:22 PT)

The Facts:
As previously noted, a report out of Philaelphia earlier today suggested that Vick would say his hamstring had healed enough for him to play against the Giants in Week 8 when he met with the media. Vick stopped short of such a proclamation when he spoke with reporters later in the day, however. “I wish I could give you a definite answer, but I can’t right now,” Vick said, via the team’s web site. Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Vick said he hasn’t fully tested his hamstring yet and he still fears aggravating the injury in a way that would extend his absence beyond the two games he has already missed. “Optimistic” was the word he used to describe his mindset, but he left open the possibility that he’s not able to play once gameday rolls around. That said, the Eagles appear to be planning around Vick’s presence in the lineup. Vick took the first-team reps in Tuesday’s practice with Nick Foles sidelined by a concussion and Matt Barkley just on the sidelines. Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur cautioned against reading anything into that, but it’s hard to think anyone but Vick will start if his hamstring cooperates for the rest of the week.
