Jets Won't Rule Out Peyton Manning... Or Any Other QB
(2/23 2:16 PT)

The Facts:
HC Rex Ryan has been steadfast in his support of Mark Sanchez, and he spoke in favor of Sanchez again today when he met with reporters at the Scouting Combine. But when asked to rule out the Jets going after Peyton Manning, Ryan declined. Instead, what Ryan said is that while he believes Sanchez will be a star, he also said the Jets “will look at any possibility that’s out there at quarterback.”  Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As PFT's Michael David Smith suggests, rules prevent Ryan from talking about Manning until the Colts cut him, but Ryan wouldn’t close the door on the Jets going after Manning once the Colts do cut him. “We will do what’s in the best interest of our organization,” Ryan said. “That means we’ll. ... Look at all the possibilities. ...” Again: With NFL execs and coaches all in Indy for the NFL Scouting Combine, there is going to be a lot of Manning discussion the next few days. Indeed, there is some buzz about the Chiefs now being interested in the Colts QB. But the most important discussion of all -- talks between Manning and Colts owner Jim Irsay -- are on hold with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that Irsay is out of town this week. That won't keep everybody else from talking about Manning, but until the principals speak and make a determination on Manning's future in Indy, the rest is idle chatter.
