As PFT's Gregg Rosenthal notes, Colts owner Jim Irsay said in December that he expected Manning would be a Colt if healthy. The presumption of late is that Manning would not be healthy by March. Rosenthal went on to suggest the Colts and NFL teams may disagree on what exactly qualifies as “healthy” but it’s clear that Manning’s camp wants the news out there that he’s ready to play again. We would suggest the timing of this announcement is of great interest. With the two sides both claiming they want this week to be about the Super Bowl and Indianapolis hosting it, both parties seem to be going out of their way to make Manning the biggest story possible.
