Gramatica has been placed on injured reserve due to a problem with his groin of the type that widely-advertised medications cannot temporarily heal. Tyler Mehlhaff has been signed to assume Gramatica’s spot on the roster.

According to PFT's Mike Florio, the Saints could try to reach an injury settlement with Gramatica and sever ties with him. Either way, Gramatica’s career with the Saints might have ended with that missed field goal that would have given New Orleans a late lead against the Vikings. He is signed through 2008, and if Mehlhaff can get the job done, Gramatica likely won’t be in the plans for next year.
