Jimmy Garoppolo Agrees To Terms With Raiders; Reunites With McDaniels
The Raiders have found another quarterback. Las Vegas is signing Jimmy Garoppolo, according to multiple reports.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the deal is for three years and worth $67.5 million with $34 million guaranteed. NFL Network is reporting the same.

The deal reunites Garoppolo with Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels, who coached him as the offensive coordinator in New England at the start of Garoppolo's career from 2014 to 2016. The Patriots won Super Bowls in Garoppolo's stint there as Tom Brady's backup.

Garoppolo, 31, was traded to the 49ers in 2017 and spent the past six years in San Francisco, where he helped the Niners reach one Super Bowl and three NFC Championship Games. Garoppolo was injured for San Francisco's appearance in this past season's conference title game, and the writing was on the wall that he'd be moving on elsewhere -- after it looked like he might depart the 49ers a year ago.

The Raiders moved on from Derek Carr last month, releasing him on Feb. 14. With Carr in New Orleans, and Jarrett Stidham on his way to Denver, the Raiders' quarterback spot was wide open.

The Raiders also own the No. 7 overall pick and could consider taking a quarterback at that spot or later in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Garoppolo ended up being a savior for the 49ers last season, returning to the team during training camp and eventually replacing an injured Trey Lance as starter, throwing for 16 TDs and four picks in 10 starts before a foot injury prematurely ended his season.

In 57 career starts, Garoppolo has completed 67.6% of his passes for 14,289 yards, 87 TDs and 42 interceptions -- which has been plenty sufficient to fuel the fantasy fortunes of his supporting cast.

In other words, there's nothing here to keep fantasy managers from continuing to invest in Davante Adams as their WR1 in the late first or early second while teammates like Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow won't lose any ground either -- and may actually provide some value coming off disappointing seasons.
