Lee To Have Season-Ending Knee Surgery; Jags Place WR On IR
The Jaguars will not have Marqise Lee for the 2018 season. Tests revealed the wide receiver suffered a knee injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Falcons and will have season-ending surgery, Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said Monday.

Lee will be placed on injured reserve, Marrone said.

A source told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport that Lee suffered ligament damage.

Lee was carted off after catching a 20-yard pass and getting hit low by Falcons safety Damontae Kazee, who was then flagged 15 yards for lowering his helmet to initiate contact. Kazee made contact with Lee's left knee, causing it to bend at an awkward angle.

Lee is considered one of the NFL top young wideouts. Last season, he caught 56 passes for 702 yards and three touchdowns.

Lee's absence will be a big blow to the Jacksonville offense that was counting on his production for 2018. With Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns leaving in free agency, the Jaguars were counting of Lee to play a significant role in the Blake Bortles-led passing attack and signed him to a new deal reflecting that.

With Lee out of the picture this season, Dede Westbrook, Keelan Cole, Donte Moncrief and second-round pick D.J. Chark remain on hand for the Jaguars. Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that Marrone said he was “comfortable” with the current group of receivers when asked if the team would consider signing Dez Bryant.
