Colts Very Confident Luck Will Be Ready For Training Camp
The Colts have been steadfast about their confidence in Andrew Luck's return to action and return to form this season, but his extended layoff with a right shoulder injury still has fantasy owners on guard as the team recently began their offseason program.

But after speaking with team officials, NFL Network's Charley Casserly reported on Friday the Colts are "very confident" Luck will be ready for training camp in late July.

"There is no question in their mind that he will open training camp throwing the football," Casserly added. "Right now, they're being conservative. He's throwing a weighted ball. That's where they are right now, but he's going to start training camp. They're totally confident in that."

Luck is healthy enough to participate in offseason practices, but he did not throw or even catch during warmups as he continues to rehab that troublesome shoulder. Despite all that, and the fact he's still not throwing NFL-sized footballs, Luck has maintained his recovery process is moving along well.

"If I wasn't making progress, it would freak me out and we would have to change something," Luck said. "But I am."

According to ESPN.com's Mike Wells, Luck and new head coach Frank Reich, a former NFL quarterback himself, have been spending time together going over the offense where Luck has been able to give him feedback on tweaks to the system.

"Fun to work with a guy who has his football IQ where we can go back and forth on the offense in the system," Reich said. "We're putting our system in and it's a system we brought here. Getting a lot of feedback from him. Little tweaks to it things that he likes. I really enjoyed that side of it. That might be 5-10 percent of tweaking the system. Calling it something different that connects to him better or sounds better."

Of course, Luck's status is one of the stories most worth monitoring this summer.

He's not expected to air it out in OTAs and mandatory minicamp over the next month and as NFL.com's Chris Wesseling suggested, "If he's not a full participant when camp opens, though, it will be time to dust off the red flags for the Colts' 2018 season."

But The Colts loaded up on their offensive line and at the skill positions this offseason. So don't dismiss Luck out of hand; just realize counting on him is a gamble until you see actual evidence he's ready to play at his previous level.
