Stokley, Rhodes & Mungro WIll Watch Opener From Sidelines...
According to the Associated Press, Brandon Stokley, still recovering from a pulled hamstring that has limited him to just one day of practice this week, will have to put off his Colts debut for at least a week.

After missing most of the preseason as he recovered from foot surgery, the former Baltimore Ravens receiver returned to play in the Colts' final exhibition game against Cincinnati.

He suffered the hamstring injury in the Bengals game.

"I don't think that Brandon will be ready to go," head coach Tony Dungy said. "He's coming along OK with the hamstring, but I just don't think he'll be able to go this week."

In addition to Stokley, running backs Dominic Rhodes (knee) and James Mungro (ribs) will not be available to play against Cleveland.

In an article published Wednesday, the Sports XChange advised reader that Peyton Manning isn't likely to change his style of calling plays at the line of scrimmage to change anytime soon.

Manning's ability to call plays and to change plays at the line of scrimmage -- and the amount of time it takes him to do it -- has had fans and foes alike scratching their heads at times. He will often run the play clock down to one or two seconds before the ball is snapped.

"That's not Peyton, per se," Dungy said. "That's our offense. It wouldn't change if [backup QB] Brock [Huard] was in there. That's just the way that we run our offense. [Offensive coordinator] Tom [Moore] will give Peyton two or three plays on each down and then give him the option of what to call depending on what the defense is doing.

"It may look rather hectic at times, but it's something that we have worked on over the years that Tom has been here. There may be times when we get caught in terms of the play clock running down, but that's never been a big problem for us. ..."

Edgerrin James has had three 100-yard rushing games on the opening weekend of league play during his first four years in the league. The lone season-opener in which James did not rush for 100 yards was last year as he had 99 yards against Jacksonville. ...
