Marshawn Lynch Will Hold Out Of Training Camp
Just a day after fantasy football owners dodged a holdout bullet when the Chiefs agreed to a last-minute deal getting Jamaal Charles to report to training camp with a new contract, we're back in the thick of it.

Marshawn Lynch will not be in attendance when the Seattle Seahawks open training camp.

"Marshawn Lynch just called me, we just talked," Lynch's former teammmate and current NFL Network analyst Michael Robinson reported Thursday afternoon. "He said he will be holding out from training camp this year with the Seahawks."

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport subsequently reported that the Seahawks learned in the last few days that Lynch would hold out. After learning of Lynch's declaration, they still don't plan on paying him, Rapoport reported.

Lynch faces a rolling $30,000 fine for every day he sits out.

Lynch signed a four-year, $30 million deal with the Seahawks in 2012 and is scheduled to earn $5.5 million in 2014.

It's safe to assume the Chiefs' willingness to give Charles a bump in pay in response to the threat of a holdout on Wednesday will only strengthen Lynch's resolve.

But as NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal suggests, the two represent different cases.

"Charles is a younger, more dynamic player and could legitimately say he was the lynchpin of his offense," Rosenthal explained. "Lynch simply doesn't have the same leverage, and the Seahawks have a younger and cheaper alternative standing by in Christine Michael."

Good points all. And if both sides are as resolved as it seems at first blush, we'll all get a longer look at Michael sooner than we expected.
