Reggie Bush Takes His Talents To Detroit
As MLive.com's Anwar S. Richardson framed it: "Former Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush is taking his talents from South Beach to the Motor City. ..."

Bush signed with the Detroit Lions after spending the last two seasons in Miami. He signed a four-year deal, according to the team's website.

The Lions will hold a press conference this afternoon to make an official announcement.

Richardson went on to characterize Detroit's acquisition of Bush as "the biggest free agent signing of general manager Martin Mayhew's tenure, and one of the most notable in team history."

Bush, 28-years old, rushed for 2,072 yards and 12 touchdowns over the past two years in Miami. When Bush signed with the Miami, many NFL observers questioned his durability, but Bush played in every game for the first time since 2006 last season. He also fell just shy of his second consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season, finishing with 986.

In 91 career games, Bush has 4,162 yards rushing and 2,730 receiving with 48 touchdowns (29 rush, 15 receiving, four return).

Bush originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick (second overall) by the New Orleans Saints in 2006. He helped lead the team to a 10-6 playoff season as a rookie, and was responsible for revitalizing the franchise. He also was a member of New Orleans' 2009 Super Bowl squad.

After five seasons in New Orleans, Bush signed with Miami. The knock on Bush prior to Miami was his durability, and lack of diversity, but the running back finally proved he could be an every down back.

The Lions, meanwhile, have been without a versatile tailback since Jahvid Best’s career was derailed by an October 2011 concussion. In addition to bringing the speed element they've missed in Best's absence, Bush is also expected to compete with Mikel Leshoure for the top spot on the depth chart.

It's certainly not a reach to believe that bush might win that job. Stay tuned. More details to come.
