WRs Garcon, Morgan Agree To Terms With Redskins
Pierre Garcon has agreed to sign with the Washington Redskins, the former Colts receiver announced on his Facebook page Tuesday.

"I wanted you all to hear it from me 1st before u saw it on the news... I will be signing with the Washington Redskins and I'm very excited about the opportunity in front of me," Garcon wrote.

"I want to thank all Colts fans from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support you've shown me the past 4 years and I hope that at some level u will still follow my career, as I will continue to share my life with you on here..."

Garcon had a career year in 2011 even though quarterback Peyton Manning missed the entire season after neck surgery. The 25-year-old receiver had 70 receptions for 947 yards and six touchdowns, catching passes from a carousel of quarterbacks.

As the Associated Press suggested, Garcon has shown signs that he could be special. He had 11 catches for 151 yards in the AFC Championship Game against the New York Jets in 2009.

Garcon's biggest drawback has been an inability to catch the ball with the consistency desired of a top receiving threat.

According to ProfootballFocus.com, Garcon dropped 13 of 85 catchable passes in 2010 (a drop rate of 15.29 percent), putting near the bottom among all NFL wideouts (only three starters had worse percentages that season). He did, however, fare much better in that regard last season.

Still, as Profootballtalk.com's Michael David Smith suggests, Garcon is a speedy receiver who at age 25 should have plenty of good years ahead of him. The Redskins will hope he spends those good years catching a lot of passes from Robert Griffin III, the man the Redskins are all but certain to target with the second pick overall in April's draft. ...

UPDATE: Not long after signing Garçon, the Redskins have struck a deal with former 49ers receiver Josh Morgan, a league source tells PFT.

According to PFT's Mike Florio, it's a five-year deal that, based on the language, will void to two years. The device was used to push 80 percent of the cap hit for the signing bonus into 2013, given the Redskins’ unexpected loss of $18 million in 2012 cap space. The two-year deal is worth up to $12 million, with $7.5 million guaranteed. ...
