Favre Confirms The Obvious: Return On... Shoulder Willing
Appearing on HBO's "Joe Buck Live" tonight, Brett Favre discussed the possibility of coming out of retirement for a second time and pretty much confirmed everything we've heard and/or suspected: He's serious about playing in 2009 and the Minnesota Vikings are the only team he's interested in playing for.

Provided, that is, his surgically-repaired shoulder cooperates and the Vikings work out a suitable contract.

Favre acknowledged having surgery last month to repair his partially torn biceps tendon.

"About 2 1/2 weeks ago, I had surgery with Dr. James Andrews," Favre said. "More or less, I can throw and I could throw before the surgery, but I couldn't throw late in the year last season. Certain throws hurt. I had pain in my neck and down my arm. When I left the first time, I knew I needed surgery and I didn't want to have it.

"If it feels better, I'm rehabbing. I have talked to the Vikings, but nothing other than, Are you interested?' and vice versa. I've had the procedure, which they know. It's how my arm feels and lets go."

Favre also confirmed that a Vikings trainer visited him in Mississippi on Sunday.

"I met with their trainer yesterday," he said. "All it was about was going through some exercises, some stretching, band work."

Asked why he was son intent on playing for the Vikings, Favre suggested it was a perfect match.

"It makes perfect sense as far as coming back to an offense I've run for 16 years," he said. "I could teach the offense. ... It makes a lot of sense."

The pieces are in place. They have a great running back. They have a great running game. If I go there, there are no guarantees.

"I would like to think that every player would think they're a difference-maker. In that situation, understanding what's expected of you, knowing your team and knowing we can run the ball and complete passes, we should be pretty good."

I'd suggest the "we" pretty much says it all.

NFL Network host Rich Eisen might have summed it up best on his Twitter page tonight, when he wrote: "The Favre interview confirmed he is who we thought he is: a future Viking who is just waiting for his arm to heal."
