The Facts: Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Rodgers could return to practice this week.
Diehards Line:
Previously, Jay Glazer of FOXSports pegged the potential return as December 2, which is both Saturday and Rodgers’s 40th birthday. The target for a return to game action continues to be Week 16, against the Commanders. Although it makes no sense as to 2023, there’s an argument to be made that Rodgers playing a couple of meaningless games this year will help for next year -- as long as he doesn’t end up with another serious injury that derails his preparations for 2024. Which is possible behind the team’s current offensive line.
The Facts: Despite Jefferson being listed as questionable for Monday night's game against Chicago, the Minnesota Vikings will exercise caution with their standout wide receiver Monday night and he is considered unlikely to play, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Diehards Line:
Minnesota has a bye next week and the belief is that Jefferson is expected to be ready post bye for the Dec. 10 game at Las Vegas, the source says. Jefferson said this week that he had run full speed at certain points in practice, and coach Kevin O'Connell said Saturday that Jefferson "took part in some team reps." Jefferson said Friday that sitting out against the Bears is "definitely not something I want to do" but added that being patient "comes with the game, it comes with trying to be healthy, trying to be 100 percent and [following] the safe route." Ultimately, Jefferson said, "we're going to weigh the options correctly, making sure that I'm feeling well and prepared to play a game, and if I'm feeling good I will play."
The Facts: Following up on a previous item. ... There was plenty of speculation about Ron Rivera's job status after a blowout loss to the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Instead, it was the last straw for Commanders defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio. Del Rio was fired today, according to multiple reports. DBs coach Brent Vieselmeyer is also out.
Diehards Line:
Del Rio is in his fourth year as the defensive coordinator in Washington, and he has often faced criticism, but head coach Ron Rivera has stood by him in the past. Now Rivera, whose own job is in peril, has decided to pull the plug. Rivera is himself a former defensive coordinator and will handle the defensive play calling himself for the rest of the season. The 60-year-old Del Rio previously had three seasons as head coach of the Raiders and nine seasons as head coach of the Jaguars. He has also been a defensive coordinator in Carolina and in Denver.
The Facts: The Saints announced Tuesday that the club has signed defensive back Cameron Dantzler Sr. to the active roster from the practice squad, has signed wide receiver Marquez Callaway to the practice squad and placed Thomas on Injured Reserve.
Diehards Line:
Although Thomas will miss at least four games, HC Dennis Allen said the receiver's knee injury isn't season-ending. Rashid Shaheed and rookie A.T. Perry move up in the rotation alongside Chris Olave with Thomas out.
The Facts: Henderson’s second stint with the Rams has come to an end. The Rams announced on Tuesday that they have waived Henderson off of their roster.
Diehards Line:
Henderson was signed to the active roster early this month and he ran 46 times for 112 yards and two touchdowns in four appearances. He also caught 10 passes for 103 yards. Henderson’s return to the lineup coincided with Kyren Williams going on injured reserve. Williams is set to return from injured reserve this week and will likely be filling the spot that opened up with Williams’ departure.
The Facts: Jones looks like he’s going to miss Thursday’s game in Detroit. Jones hurt his knee in Sunday’s win over the Chargers and Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that he has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain. He is considered unlikely to play on Thanksgiving and will be week-to-week moving forward.
Diehards Line:
The Packers had Emanuel Wilson go down with a shoulder injury shortly after Jones was injured and both players were listed as non-participants in practice on Monday. The Packers signed Patrick Taylor to the active roster to go with A.J. Dillon and veteran James Robinson was added to the practice squad. Although he hasn't been a reliable fantasy asset up to this point, managers can at least expect him to handle the bulk of the workload against the Lions on Thursday. It's not an ideal matchup, but those in dire straights at the position could do worse.
