Hakeem Butler 2019 Outlook
This just in: The Cardinals added some speed to their offense in the NFL draft. While Kyler Murray didn't run an official 40, there have been multiple references to him having 4.3 speed. They drafted receiver Andy Isabella, who ran a bona fide 4.31-second 40-yard dash. They also added Butler, who has a rare size/speed combo. His official 40 time at the NFL combine was 4.48 but he has run it faster and wants you to know about it. "One team clocked me like at a 4.35," he said at his introductory press conference. "Make sure you get that out there. ..." Worth noting, in 2018, Butler led all draftable receivers with 19 receptions of 20 air yards or more. And while some draftniks held him in high esteem, Butler lasted until the first pick in the fourth round. In the end, it's a great fit for Butler, as he can transition to a role as a situational deep receiver with Murray, the most efficient deep thrower in the NCAA last season. As for his potential role, Butler is versatile (and fast) enough to play inside or outside, giving HC Kliff Kingsbury some additional options. Expect Butler to be among the team's top-four wideouts, which should be enough to get him some looks this year.
