Josh Allen 2022 Outlook
Allen has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks -- if not one of the best players in general -- over the last two seasons. He has completed 66.1 percent of his passes for 8,951 passing yards with 73 touchdowns and 25 interceptions over that span. He also has 1,184 yards on the ground with 14 more scores. It's safe to say Allen has been as spectacular for fantasy managers as he's been for the Bills. Two years ago, Allen set several franchise records and finished second in the NFL MVP voting behind Packers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers. Last season, Allen threw for 4,407 yards with 36 touchdowns. He also had 763 rushing yards with six more TDs. So, when Buffalo had to replace offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who left the organization to become the Giants' head coach, the club didn't want much to change for their star signal caller. That's a major reason the Bills promoted Ken Dorsey from quarterbacks coach to coordinator. "We definitely interviewed some other guys and got some different perspectives," GM Brandon Beane said. "But in the end being able to keep so many things the same for Josh was important. ..." Even with some minor turnover in his receiving corps, that continuity puts Allen in prime position to continue delivering for the Bills -- and for your team.
Josh Allen 2021 Outlook
Allen made huge strides in his third season, leading Buffalo to the AFC Championship Game. In the regular season, Allen improved his completion rate from 58.8 percent in 2019 to 69.2 percent in 2020. He finished the year with 37 touchdown passes against just 10 interceptions. He also had eight rushing TDs and a 12-yard touchdown catch en route to becoming the first player in NFL history to have two games in the same season with 400-plus passing yards, three-plus passing touchdowns, no interceptions and a 130-plus passer rating. "There's not a lot of teams that can answer that question and say, 'Yes we have our quarterback,'" HC Sean McDermott said. "I can tell you -- and you've watched it -- Josh is a very good quarterback and one we can win with for years to come. ..." Fantasy managers have reason to believe the same. With OC Brian Daboll and standout WRs Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley returning -- in addition to veteran newcomer Emmanuel Sanders and rising youngster Gabriel Davis on board -- there's every reason to expect Allen, who was fantasy's top-scoring QB, will continue to perform at a high level in 2021.
Josh Allen 2020 Outlook
Allen led the Bills to a wild-card berth in 2019, completing 58.8 percent of his passes with a 20:9 TD-to-INT ratio. While some pundits contend he'll have to cut down on his running to remain viable, fantasy managers are just fine with it. A true late-round pick last summer, Allen ranked 10th in fantasy points per game among quarterbacks who played eight or more games last season. Per NFL.com, he finished in the top-10 in fantasy points seven times, and he ranked in the top-15 in 11 of his 16 starts. Mobility was an obvious and major factor, as he ranked third in rushing yards (510) and first in rushing touchdowns (9) among all QBs. Allen's 109 rushing attempts ranked as the 14th-most all-time among quarterbacks. Newcomer Stefon Diggs should certainly help his passing totals. Allen now has John Brown out wide on one side, Cole Beasley in the slot, a nice pass-catching RB in Devin Singletary and, of course, Diggs on the other side. Worth noting: Allen needs to pick up the pace as a passer -- especially in terms of accuracy -- but even if he falls short of major improvement there, the floor remains high thanks to his mobility.
