Josh Rosen 2019 Outlook
The Dolphins are expecting a highly-motivated Rosen, but the second-year man won't find the starting job handed to him on a platter. HC Brian Flores made it clear that Rosen, whom Miami acquired from the Cardinals for a late second-round pick during April's draft and a 2020 fifth-rounder, won't be treated any differently than the rest of the players on the team. "When Josh gets here, he's got to compete for any type of role that he has here. That's the case for everyone in the building," Flores said. ... Value played a huge role in the trade, but the Dolphins also felt strongly about Rosen's character and defended the newcomer against criticism about his leadership skills, his passion for football and whether he is well-liked by teammates. The Dolphins did their homework on Rosen in last year's draft, as did Flores and new OC Chad O'Shea during their time in New England. Because of that, Rosen will get a good chance to prove his worth, and he has coaches in Flores, O'Shea and quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell who believe in him and want to maximize his potential. Ryan Fitzpatrick has been penciled in as the starter since the Dolphins signed him to a two-year, $11 million deal, so Rosen will need to beat out the veteran to earn the starting role. We suspect he will.
