Kenny Golladay 2020 Outlook
Eleven wide receivers averaged $15 million per season on their contracts in 2019. Golladay deserves to leap into this group soon. He generated 1,190 yards on 65 receptions with 11 TDs in 2019. He ranked sixth in the NFL in yards, and only rookie A.J. Brown averaged more yards per catch than Golladay's 18.3 among all wideouts with 50 or more catches. Golladay also led all WRs in TD catches, was second in 20-plus-yard receptions (22), and tied for sixth in 40-plus yarders (6). As good as he was, Golladay could have been better. Per NFL.com, Golladay averaged more than four points per catch in the games Matthew Stafford started. When Stafford, who was playing extremely well, went down with injury after eight games, it would have been natural to expect Golladay's production to fall off. It did not. Despite games with Jeff Driskel and David Blough slinging pigskins, Golladay continued to put up numbers and be a big-play threat. In fact, he tied for third in top-20 finishes among wide receivers, and he tied for the second-most 20-plus points games (5) in 2019. He also tied for sixth in games with 25 or more fantasy points. Bottom line? As NFL.com put it: "Golladay is a surefire second-round selection in 2020 drafts.'
Kenny Golladay 2019 Outlook
According to the Detroit Free Press, Golladay isn't ready to call himself the Lions' No. 1 receiver. But if anyone else wants to, he doesn't mind. "Whenever my number's called, I just want to make the play," he recently said. ... It's safe to say fantasy owners would like that number called more often. Nonetheless, it's hard to dispute that Golladay ended last season as the Lions' No. 1 wideout, even if only by default. Marvin Jones missed the final seven games with a knee injury, and Golden Tate was shipped to Philadelphia in October. For his part, Golladay led the Lions in just about every receiving statistic, including a 15.2-yard average, and he tied Jones with five receiving touchdowns. It remains to be seen if new OC Darrell Bevell's tendency to focus on the run will impact the passing game, but Golladay put in extra effort learning to play more often in the slot last year, and his production progressed from 28 catches and 477 yards as a rookie to 70 catches and 1,063 yards. With freakish size and speed, Golladay heads into his third season as a pro more capable of leveraging that imposing physical presence than he ever has before. That alone gives him value and upside.
