Will Fuller 2020 Outlook
Last season, Fuller continued to show that when he's right, he's a game-changer. But Fuller has missed at least five games in three of four NFL seasons. He played just 11 games in 2019 because of hamstring and core muscle problems and has only played 42 of a possible 64 games in four seasons. This year, the speedy wideout says availability will be his top priority. "That's a big goal for me to play all 16," Fuller said. The positives? With DeAndre Hopkins in Arizona, Fuller is now the No. 1 WR on a team that will throw in 2020. And he's been plenty productive. As ESPN's Matthew Berry pointed out, in his past 16 games with at least seven targets, Fuller has 87 catches, 1,192 yards and eight TDs (259.9 fantasy points). That would've been WR7 last season (ahead of Julian Edelman, just behind Keenan Allen). Part of that has been due to heavy usage thanks to a locked-in connection with Deshaun Watson. Fuller averaged a 24 percent target share in 10 "full" games last season and was at 22 percent in six "full" games in 2017. That's big-time usage and came with Hopkins in the fold and it leads ESPN's Mike Clay to suspect Fuller's share could rise even higher this year -- health willing.
Will Fuller 2019 Outlook
HC Bill O'Brien recently said the Texans "feel really good about where [Fuller] is right now" coming off a torn ACL. O'Brien said he didn't want to put a date on the receiver's return, but he thinks there's a chance that Fuller could be ready for training camp. The team's actions suggest they believe that will happen. Remember, the Texans traded for Demaryius Thomas five days after Fuller was hurt. With Fuller's rehab on schedule, the former Bronco became expendable and Houston cut Thomas in February. ... The Texans' hopes are built around Fuller and Keke Coutee remaining healthy to complement All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins. Fuller has only played 11 games with Deshaun Watson. He has 11 touchdowns. But he missed six games in 2017 and nine last season. So, it's hard to count on Fuller staying healthy for a full 16-game season. It's also fair to wonder if he'll hit the ground running in Week 1 coming off the ACL, which he suffered in an Oct. 25 game against the Dolphins. Watch his status through August before pulling the trigger, but Fuller’s upside is so appealing that it mitigates the risk to a degree for us.
