Odell Beckham 2022 Outlook
As we head into the summer, Beckham remains an unsigned free agent. While there's mutual interest in a reunion with the Rams, that hasn't come to fruition. His torn ACL has complicated things, likely sidelining him for at least part of the 2022 season. The Rams should know better than anyone exactly the condition of Beckham's knee because, according to NFL Network, it was the Rams' team doctor who performed the surgery. The procedure went well, and it actually corrected an issue from a previous surgery Beckham underwent after he tore his ACL the first time. Meanwhile, Rams GM Les Snead says the team "definitely" remains interested in Beckham. There has been a lot of speculation about OBJ's future in LA after the Rams signed former Bears wideout Allen Robinson to a three-year, $46.5 million contract to take the No.2 wideout role opposite Cooper Kupp in 2022 and beyond. Working in the Rams' favor? Beckham's options this offseason may be limited entering his age-30 season given his injury history and the fact that he is not expected to be ready to play until at least early November. A reunion with the Rams on a short-term deal seems to be a wise choice by both parties, but fantasy managers shouldn't draft him based on that; instead you should watch for developments and react accordingly once he's on a team.
Odell Beckham 2021 Outlook
Though some have suggested the Browns' offense was better off without Beckham, GM Andrew Berry rejected that notion. "You always want to have someone that talented on the field," Berry said. "He's a dynamic weapon and we like having dynamic weapons on the field. ..." All this after Cleveland's offense continuing to improve during Beckham's absence became a persistent storyline last season. He had only 23 catches for 319 yards with three touchdowns before going down in Week 7. But it stands to reason that if Beckham can return to the form he displayed in the early part of his career, he can be a significant part of Cleveland's offense in 2021. Indeed, Berry contends the improving offense was more a product of players and coaches finally getting better-acclimated to one another than it was Beckham's absence. Like all teams, Cleveland did not have the benefit of an in-person off-season program to install its new offensive and defensive systems in 2020. ... Latest reports indicate Beckham, who has caught 97 passes for 1,354 yards with seven touchdowns since Cleveland acquired him in 2019, is on track in his recovery, although there's no specific timetable for his return to full action.
Odell Beckham 2020 Outlook
Once again optimism reigns in Cleveland. While talented teammate and close friend Jarvis Landry had another Pro Bowl campaign in 2019, Beckham's highly-scrutinized productivity was among the lowest it has ever been in his six-season career during a full season. In fact, as NFL.com notes, Beckham averaged a career-low 12.6 fantasy points per game in his first season in Cleveland. He went from averaging 2.81 fantasy points per touch in his final season in New York to 2.61 points per touch in his first year in Cleveland. As a result, Beckham had just one top-5 finish among wideouts and ranked outside of the top 30 nine times. The good news? Beckham has seen what new HC Kevin Stefanski accomplished as OC in Minnesota, and is planning on replicating-- or perhaps even bettering -- the production of the Stefon Diggs-Adam Thielen combo. "I think that's the plan," Beckham said of matching the Vikings’ 2019 tandem, "and I'm hoping that that's the game plan." We know the talent is there. If the role and offense improve, the draft-day discount coming off a down season will obviously work in our favor.
